Autum- A day in Paris…

It is the first Sunday of the month here in Paris, so that means that the Musee du Louvre is free – sweet!!! So even though I have a job this afternoon I am not missing out of this opportunity! Packed up all the necessary things for the shoot later along with a bottle of water, stopped off at the Sunday market for some beautiful fruit to snack on and off I hope onto the metro! It is crazy busy, but I have a plan, my list of things that I must see and they are all in wing Denon. After weaving my way through the lost tourists I find the wing and head on up.

First on the list is the Mona Lisa, but along the way I got distracted by other paintings and ceilings…

… Who wouldn’t want that as their ceiling??? But eventually I make it to the amazing Mona Lisa and sneak way for front viewing!! She is mysterious and stunning, but much smaller than I expected. Ok done, next – Venice de Milo…I know I saw signs for it somewhere near here. After a couple more distractions and wrong turns I make it:

It was breath taking. But onto the next thing, OH NO - I have lost my list to the bottom of my purse (opps so much for plans). But I did see a sign for the sphinx and statue of Ramses II…so I think I will go umm thataway??

Found it –I am so good – no idea where I am in the musee but I have 40 minute before I must be back on the metro so lets get lost on the way (and no sorte signs do not always lead you to a real exit!) along the way I did get to pose with some fun statues thought – how do you like my impressions?

Ok but enough getting lost it is time to get to work…These exit sign please start leading to the metro!!! Ok wait I see the pyramids outside I must be near..and there is the starbucks (sweet I think I have 5 minutes to pick up a soy chai, life is good in Paris) Yup time to get to work but not before one last grande posing exit!

Alright, chai, metro and cover shoot time! Such fun getting lost in Louvre <3! Got so many design ideas for the new condo…and seeing the scupltures and paintings really made me think about posing and the art of modeling. Mwah (h)

Hi Shiya! We could talk about getting a university degree in science, but lets talk about one of your other passions instead…SHOES! How many pairs do you own!?

Yes! I don’t even know how many I own anymore. I lost count at 50 pairs! (There’s another stash at my parents place!) In fact, if anyone would like to purchase some gently used and fashionable size 8 shoes, please contact me! (ha!)

Where do you buy them, what is your favorite pair, and what designers do you like?

I buy shoes ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE! But I would have to say that most of the time I end up at Zara – runway style for a fraction of the price. My favorite pairs right now are the Sam Edelman “Zoe” booties, and the thigh high boots from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection.

How do you pick what shoes to wear with which outfit?

Just color match and style match, most of the time! If I’m wearing a busy pattern/bright color on top, I’ll wear a relatively simple black pair of shoes and vice versa! And if the style I am going for today is, say, “girly”, then I would pick the style of shoes accordingly.

What was the most you spent in one shoe shopping spree?

Probably once when I picked up 2 pairs of Allesandro Dell’Acqua shoes for $700! I couldn’t help it, they were on MAJOR sale!

What is your advice to picking the best shoes?

Pick shoes you can actually walk in! That’s a lesion I still have yet to learn…

And for this summer, what are the “must have” shoes for any girl?

Gladiator style flat sandals are still going strong and of course FLIP FLOPS!

Jessi was in town this week for a rare visit! She has been so busy in the last year taking over the European market that we rarely see her. Here is a quick interview for one of our most successful girls!

Jessi, you travel so much! How do you know what to pack to always look so stylist?

You have to have the basic black leggings, black small t-shirt.  You need to have a perfect body so anything looks great .
I bring my fave skinny jeans—nice fitting ones. I like to have my boyfriend shirt that I wear with a cool belt. Must haves are tiny vintage jean shorts. A tight leather jacket and dark glasses. The smaller the better!  I also bring one pair of flats, one pair of boots, sneakers for the gym and KILLER heels!  Accessories depending on my mood—I love red nails to finish everything off!   I pack all of this into my Chloe bag, but I have my eye on a new a Chanel one!

How do you beat the jetlag when you travel?

Lots of water and no alcohol before, during and asfter the journey!  Try to catch up on sleep in the timezone.
A little trick for adjusting to a new time zone is to go to sleep around 9pm (local time), then wake up around midnight and force yourself to stay up for 2-3 hours, then go back to sleep. After a few days you will be able to stay up later and sleep the night through.

Jessi, you are known to have so much energy—what is your secret?

I meditate in the morning and at night. I’m very spiritual and I keep a very positive outlook on life even when things are tough!  I am determined and a go-getter.

So to give everyone and idea how much of a globetrotter you are tell us where you have been in the last few months?

I have been to Cape Town, South Africa 3 times, Germany a few times, Paris, London, Chicago, New York and I am in Toronto today!

WOW Jessi! That is a lot of travelling, are you ever tired of it all?

YES but my life is great!  I exercise when my energy level is low, Yoga to center myself and some TLC from my boyfriend.

She definitely scored in the genetic lottery, but she is also very serious about her modelling career and works hard everyday to keep herself in top shape for those lingerie campaigns and clients!

I’ve asked Lina a few questions when she was over today shooting some lingerie polaroids, so hopefully her answers can help all of us alittle bit!

Hey Lina!  What did you eat today?

Hi guys! Thank you for all the compliments :)Today I started my day with a glass of orange juice , yogurt and oatmeal with fruit in it. I try to be creative with food and eat different type of breakfast everyday (eggs, fruits, oatmeal, juice). For lunch I had a seaweed salad and tuna handroll with green tea and glass of water. Apple and granola bar as a snack to keep me going on a busy day and for dinner I made a salad with spring mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and dried cranberries with piece of grilled chicken breast. And lots of water duringthe day.

Lina, do you workout every day? What kind of excercises do you do?

Yes , I try to stay active all the time. If I don’t get to go to the gym some days I will do few sit-ups at home. I also love dancing and play tennis. Staying active makes me feel healthy and energetic. I try to attend all sort of classes at my gym, it’s fun to do something different every time. But sit-ups and lunges is the must!

What products do you use to keep your skin looking so flawless?

I don’t use a lot of stuff for my skin, I like to keep it clean and wash my face few times a day with Neutogena Acne Wash. In the morning I use CLINIQUE moisturizing lotion.

How do you get your hair to look so silky and smooth ?

I guess I’m lucky with my hair, it is naturally straight so I don’t have to damage it with heat. I like to try different products, there is always something new comes out that I’m curious about. But I always keep Pantene at home.

Okay and please tell us one thing you don’t like about yourself because frankly, I can’t think of anything!

Oh.. thank you Everyone has something that they don’t like about themselves. I just wish that my body would burn those calories ( from last night’s desert ) faster and I always wanted to have grey eyes.
